MÜHLE PURIST - Razors

PURIST
Boiled down to the essentials and simple – that’s what PURIST is all about. The series wows customer with its gently rounded silhouette. PURIST indulges in a little extravagance only with its neck, which is also reflected in the choice of materials. The Karelian masur birch captivates with its unusual grain. However, PURIST also comes up with the goods in traditional black.

The Material:

  • High-Grade Resin
High-grade resin is a high-quality synthetic material, the surface of which is processed and refined separately. The material is ideal for exclusive accessories and writing implements because it facilitates a broad spectrum of modern and classical designs in many attractive colours.

To begin with, the aesthetic basic shapes for brush and razor handles are turned out of solid rods. Then each individual work piece is polished in several passes to give the surface its special gleam. This processing method lends the models a pleasant feel and secures their beauty for many years to come.

  • Briar Wood
Taken from the Erica Arborea shrub, Briar Wood has long been used to create fine tobacco pipes because of its fire-resistant properties. Obtained from the root structure of the shrub, the dense roots are dug out by hand when the plant is a minimum of thirty years old.

After harvesting, the wood is then cut into blocks, cooked and rested for up to a year. Only after this processing does the wood take on its beautiful reddish hue. The finest sections of the wood are then processed further by sanding, staining, waxing and polishing. Each Briar Wood handle possesses its own unique pattern of swirling grain, lending individual character to every brush, razor and set.
  • Ebonite
Delicate lines meet a strong contrast. Deep black meets strong red. The natural material ebonite does not like to be pigeonholed. It looks like marble, but it is not. In terms of colour, the hard rubber mixture, which is produced on the basis of natural rubber and sulphur, is reminiscent of ebony. The term "ebonite" is derived from the English term "ebony".

The supple material has hardly been used when it is already at operating temperature. So far, it has been appreciated above all by music lovers, for example as mouthpieces for saxophones and clarinets or as piano keys. Tobacco pipes and writing utensils also like to adorn themselves with the elegant material and now also shaving utensils from MÜHLE, such as the PURIST series. The gently rounded silhouette harmoniously picks up the curve of the grain, while the chrome-plated base and the wider collar provide a fitting counterpoint.
  • Karelian masur birch
The particularly beautiful wood of the masur birch comes from trees in the tree-line regions of the far north. Due to the harsh climatic conditions, the growth height is low and the wood develops an exceptionally rich grain. The precious wood has therefore been traditionally worked to create decorative objects.

The hand-picked square timbers are shaped by turning. Only the finest specimens are processed further and stabilised and coated in a special procedure. This makes the wood water resistant and hard-wearing. The high-gloss surface very expressively accentuates the individual veining of the grain.
  • Grained beech
Exceptional in colour, varied in structure. A natural ageing process gives the beech wood it’s accentuated and contrasting grain. Finished in elegant shades of grey and soaked in precious resin, the high-gloss surface of the handles allows water and soap lather to drip off with ease.
