MÜHLE EDITION - Shaving Brushes

EDITION
This series is the crowning glory of our overall programme. Voluminous shapes and an expressive silhouette conjoin with the purist design principle that is typical of MÜHLE. The resulting proportions underline the value of the processed materials carbon, Meissen porcelain and bog oak/sterling silver. These masterpieces are made by hand in the finest precision work: from the manufacture of removable brush heads , the polishing of metal parts to the coating of the surfaces and the manufacture of the handles. Each of these valuable unique pieces is made to order and delivered with an illustrated booklet in a high-quality presentation box.

The Material:

  • Bog Oak & Sterling Silver
Two materials from a different era: brushes and shavers in this EDITION are made from the finest bog oak – a wood that was locked in an airtight seal by bogs and swamps for thousands of years. Suffused with tannins, it acquired its unique colouring over time. Sterling silver, extracted from the depths of the earth and incorporated into the wood, accentuates the natural unevenness of the fine grain. The high-gloss sealed surface accentuates its delicate shimmer while protecting the precious material from the wear and tear of the daily care ritual.

  • Meissen Porcelain
The handles of this EDITION are made of pure Meissen porcelain. Their decor, the Chinese Ming dragon, showcases what is probably the most famous painting of this renowned manufactory. Made by master craftspeople and meticulously painted with the utmost care and attention, the elegant handles are probably one of the most beautiful things that MÜHLE has ever produced. And what about the dragon? It’s a symbol of masculine energy – day after day, on Tuesdays as well as Sundays.

From the composition of the bright red hue (which is, incidentally, the colour of happiness) to the overglaze technique, this pattern is familiar to many, many generations. A ring made of chrome-plated metal is a beautiful feature on the neck and bottom of each handle.
  • Carbon
Carbon is an element which occurs naturally in a wide variety of forms. Carbon compounds are even to be found in diamonds. Engineers and active racing experts enthuse about the carbon used in industry.

Aesthetes love above all the fine light reflections created by the dark material. Following a complex development process we use this challenging material for the innovative design of MÜHLE EDITION. In doing so, we work the conventional, flexible fibrous structures by hand in a special process.

Individual blanks – which later become the handles of brushes and razors – are covered with the weave. Then they are placed in a form where the fibres are evenly aligned and soaked and cured with high-grade resin in several work steps, then finally polished. This produces the gleaming surfaces with their dynamic reflections.

The Brushhead:

  • Silvertip Fibre®
This premium quality, durable synthetic fibre is a worldwide innovation and proof from us that art is capable of surpassing nature. The synthetically produced hair, which is also suitable for vegans, is very easy to look after and dries faster than any natural material. The fibres are made by hand and are particularly soft at the tip. At the same time, the lower part of the brush is firmer and provides sufficient backbone for a pleasant massage effect even when wet. In addition, Silvertip Fibre® guarantees a luxurious lather even when using the smallest amounts of shaving soap or cream.

  • Silvertip Badger
A tried and trusted classic and the undisputed leader of the natural hair range: silvertip badger is particularly soft and flexible and is exclusively handmade at MÜHLE. Its silver sheen and a black band around each individual hair, which connoisseurs call a mirror, are noble distinguishing features. Its fine, conically shaped hair absorbs a lot of water and guarantees a dense, creamy lather.
